The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyans for temporary jobs to support upcoming electoral activities across counties and constituencies.

These opportunities target individuals with integrity, professionalism, and commitment to serve during the electoral period.

Available Positions

1. Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers

Duties

  • Manage polling stations and ensure smooth voting operations.
  • Prepare polling stations, lay out materials, and safeguard KIEMS kits.
  • Supervise security and overall station operations.
  • Post and submit election results to the Constituency Returning Officer.
  • Ensure safe return of election materials.

Pay

  • Presiding Officer: Kshs. 2,000 per day
  • Deputy Presiding Officer: Kshs. 1,800 per day

2. Voter Registration Clerk – Huduma Centre

Duties

  • Operate biometric registration kits (KIEMS/VIU tablets).
  • Verify eligibility of applicants and assist with registration forms.
  • Maintain safe custody of registration equipment.

Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen aged 19+
  • KCSE C- (minus) minimum
  • Computer literacy (ICT, Statistics, Education, Business diploma preferred)
  • Integrity and confidentiality

Pay: Kshs. 1,500 per day

3. Ward-Based Voter Educator

Duties

  • Conduct voter education in schools, markets, churches/mosques, and community centres.
  • Distribute educational materials and engage local leaders.
  • Assess public understanding of electoral processes.
  • Submit weekly reports.

Pay

  • County Voter Educator: Kshs. 2,500 per day
  • Constituency Voter Educator: Kshs. 2,000 per day
  • Ward-Based Voter Educator: Kshs. 1,500 per day

4. Polling/Counting Clerks

Duties

  • Assist with station set-up and manage queues.
  • Confirm voter eligibility by checking indelible ink.
  • Guide voters and maintain order.

Requirements

  • Kenyan citizen, non-partisan, resident of the ward/constituency.
  • KCSE C- minimum.
  • Must be available for the full election period.

Pay: Kshs. 1,000 per day

5. ICT Clerks

Duties

  • Provide first-level ICT support at tallying centres.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot KIEMS kits.
  • Support presiding teams with ICT challenges.

Requirements

  • Diploma in ICT or related field (MCSE/CCNA certification an added advantage).
  • 2+ years ICT support experience.
  • Strong hardware, software, and networking skills.

Pay: Kshs. 1,500 per day

6. Support Electoral Trainers (SETs)

Duties

  • Train Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, and Clerks.
  • Prepare training materials and supervise trainees.
  • Support election processes as assigned by the Returning Officer.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Proven training and people management skills.

Pay: Kshs. 2,000 per day

7. Logistics Officers

Duties

  • Plan and manage distribution of election materials.
  • Create route maps and coordinate transport.
  • Maintain accurate records of received and dispatched items.

8. County/Constituency Voter Educators

Duties

  • Recruit and supervise Ward-Based Voter Educators.
  • Engage CSOs, religious groups, and media to enhance voter awareness.
  • Distribute education materials and coordinate outreach activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive voter education and stakeholder reports.

Application Guidelines

  • Applications may be submitted online or delivered as hard copies to the nearest IEBC office.
  • Deadline: 16th October 2025
  • Applicants must present original documents for verification.
  • Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
