Position: Motor Vehicle Driver (200 Posts)

Location: Various Counties Across Kenya
Employer: Reputable Public Transport Company
Target Group: NYS Graduates with Valid BCE and PSV Licenses

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate assigned vehicles in strict compliance with Kenya’s traffic laws and NTSA regulations.
  • Ensure monthly vehicle servicing at designated NYS service bays.
  • Monitor and record daily mileage, fuel consumption, dashboard alerts, and any mechanical issues.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections (engine oil, brake fluid, tyre pressure, lights, mirrors, license plates, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate driving logs, including work tickets and service history.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and promptly report any irregularities or accidents.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Academic Requirements:

  • KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+ (plus) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili (spoken and written).
  • Training in customer service, communication, or hospitality is an added advantage.

Professional Requirements:

  • Valid BCE driving license (obtained through NYS).
  • Valid PSV license issued by NTSA.
  • Must have passed driving suitability tests (NTSA or Chief Mechanical and Transport Engineer).
  • At least 5 years of accident-free driving experience.
  • Recent Certificate of Good Conduct (issued within the last 6 months).
  • Must be medically and physically fit.
  • Certification in defensive driving or first aid is a plus.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ability to perform basic diagnostics and routine checks (oil, water, tyres).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with NTSA rules and national traffic regulations.
  • Navigation: Competency in using GPS, Google Maps, Waze, and similar apps.
  • Documentation: Accurate log-keeping and timely reporting of service and mileage data.
