TSC to confirm 46,000 intern teachers to be employed after President Ruto reveals.
Following the President William Ruto Supplementary Appropriations Act, 2024, which allots Sh18.6 billion for their permanent and pensionable employment, 46,000 intern teachers would be employed.
The Teachers Service Commission earlier informed Parliamentary Committees that in order to confirm the 26,000 teachers for permanent terms beginning in January 2025, Sh8.3 billion would be required.
Since the start of the second term, 46,000 teachers who were hired as interns under contract have been demonstrating across the nation in hopes of securing permanent jobs with pensions.
A budget of Sh31.3 billion has been set aside for HELB loans and scholarships.
The University Fund Board has been given Sh17 billion to distribute as student scholarships.
