TSC Opens Recruitment for 24,000 Junior Secondary School Teacher Interns – August 2025
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is inviting qualified applicants to apply for 24,000 internship positions for teachers in junior secondary schools. This initiative supports the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold at least a Diploma in Education with a minimum mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects in KCSE or equivalent.
- Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission.
Applicants are encouraged to check the TSC website for equivalent qualifications details.
Application Details:
- Applications must be submitted online via www.tsc.go.ke under “Careers” or www.teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
- Deadline for submissions is midnight, 9th September 2025.
- Manual applications will not be accepted.
- Applicants must be unemployed and must not have been dismissed from teaching for disciplinary reasons.
- Candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates during verification.
- Personal accident insurance coverage is mandatory for the internship period.
- Selection will be merit-based and aligned with the available vacancies per county.
- Candidates can only accept one internship offer.
- Successful interns will be assigned to junior secondary schools within their sub-county or any other school within the county where vacancies exist.
- Interns will teach various subjects under the Junior School Curriculum.
Required Documents for Verification:
- Teacher registration certificate or TSC online portal printout.
- National ID or passport.
- Two passport-size colored photos.
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN.
- NCPWD card for persons with disabilities (if applicable).
Internship Duration and Benefits:
- The internship lasts 12 months.
- Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Kshs 20,000, subject to statutory deductions.
- This is a non-permanent engagement aimed at building practical teaching skills through mentorship and coaching.

- TSC warns against fraudsters soliciting money for the recruitment process.
