KNEC announces KCSE examiner training and application procedures.
Examiners for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will receive training from the Kenya National Examinations Council between August 18 and August 24, 2024.
The training charge is Sh10,500, and only the shortlisted applicants will be able to pay it, according to KNEC. They will receive instructions on how to do so via the web and SMS.
“The examiner must be a practicing teacher in the relevant subject areas at the level of examination,” said KNEC.
Additionally, examiners need to be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and/or hired by them.
The examiner needs to have at least three years of teaching experience and a diploma in education or higher.
Additionally, the examiners cannot be subject to any kind of TSC disciplinary action or be placed under interdiction.
According to the commission, the examiner needs to be under 50 years old and have the recommendation of the head of the institution.
Additionally, according to KNEC, only certified teachers who have submitted all necessary paperwork will be shortlisted for the exercise because there are a limited number of training spaces available.
The commission stated that the training exercise will be entirely residential and that the location will be disclosed subsequently to the eligible candidates.
“Teachers who are already trained as KCSE examiners and are in the KNEC database of examiners need not apply,” the board stated.
