Education Ministry cancels the KUCCPS-imposed first-year student fees.
The first-year tuition for students placed in universities by KUCCPS was canceled by the Ministry of Education Ministry.
Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala announced in a July 19 announcement that the new structure will be implemented on August 5.
Parents were encouraged by Inyangala to disregard previous correspondence from the institutions.
“The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public, particularly parents and guardians of students that the fees to be paid by students and their families as relates to the full cost of each degree programme as previously communicated in the admission letters is hereby nullified and does not apply anymore,” Inyangala stated.
“Beginning August 5, the respective universities will communicate the new fees to be paid by each student as household contribution,” she stated.
Nonetheless, the ministry stated that students’ placement in their respective academic programs is unaltered.
“We wish to confirm that their places in the academic programmes are firmly secured.”
Students enrolled in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2023 cohort have been assigned to different degree programs by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). … the data that the individual universities shared with the students.
This is due to worries that thousands of students who are scheduled to enroll in September may not receive government financing.
On Thursday, Inyang’ala informed Members of Parliament that they are unable to provide loans and scholarships to applicants for the 2023 KCSE exam who have already been accepted into a number of colleges.
About 153,292 pupils are scheduled to enroll in college.
