Data Collection – Kisii KEMRI Hiring Field Assistants

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to serve as Field Assistants for an upcoming data collection exercise in Kisii. The selected candidates will play a vital role in supporting a research project aimed at gathering high-quality, ethical, and reliable data at the household level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain Informed Consent: Clearly explain the study’s purpose, procedures, risks, and benefits to participants, ensuring that informed consent is obtained before any data is collected.
  • Conduct Household Surveys: Administer structured questionnaires in a consistent and respectful manner, ensuring that all responses are accurately recorded, free from personal bias or influence.
  • Uphold Ethical Standards: Follow the study protocol diligently, including maintaining strict confidentiality of participant information, showing respect and cultural sensitivity, and adhering to all ethical and regulatory guidelines throughout the research process.
  • Engage with Participants: Maintain open and courteous communication with participants, addressing any concerns or questions to foster trust and cooperation.
  • Daily Reporting: Participate in routine debriefing sessions with the project supervisor to review progress, share field experiences, and resolve emerging issues.
  • Tool and Equipment Management: Ensure proper handling, safety, and accountability of all research tools, equipment, and materials provided for fieldwork.
  • Timely Problem Reporting: Proactively identify and report any field-related challenges, irregularities, or unexpected situations to the research team for prompt resolution.
  • Support Project Activities: Provide assistance with other project-related tasks as assigned by the research team, contributing to the overall success of the study.
