2025 KJSEA Qualifying Test: Complete Agenda, Policies, and Important Notes

Purpose: To evaluate learners’ preparedness for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA)


Test Overview

KNEC will administer an online qualifying test for all Grade 9 learners from 9th to 11th June 2025. This mandatory test will simulate KJSEA conditions, providing students with a vital preparation platform and familiarization with the online exam process.


Test Schedule

Day 1: Monday, 9th June 2025

  • Rehearsal and Online Orientation

Day 2: Tuesday, 10th June 2025

  • 08:30am – 10:30am: Mathematics
  • 11:30am – 1:10pm: English

Day 3: Wednesday, 11th June 2025

  • 08:30am – 10:10am: Integrated Science
  • 11:30am – 1:10pm: Kiswahili

A one-hour break will be observed between sessions each day.

Candidate Instructions

  • Arrival: Report at least 15 minutes before the first session. Late arrivals beyond 30 minutes will require exceptional approval.
  • Test Navigation: Attend the orientation on June 9 to understand the online testing platform.
  • Withdrawal: Notify KNEC in writing if withdrawing from the test.
  • Time Management: Use time wisely; no extra time will be given. Stick strictly to the time on the question paper.
  • Conduct:
    • No communication during the test.
    • No candidate may leave early without special permission.
    • Follow all instructions on the first page of each paper.

Prohibited Items

  • Unauthorized materials: Notes, textbooks, etc.
  • Electronic devices: Mobile phones and smartwatches are strictly prohibited.
  • Only approved calculators (non-programmable) and KNEC-issued mathematical tables are allowed.

Examination Misconduct

According to KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012:

  • Any irregularity will result in cancellation of results for the entire subject.
  • Widespread malpractice at a center will lead to nullification of all results at that center.
  • Offending candidates will receive an overall result of “Y”.

Post-Test Procedure

  • Result slips will be issued immediately after completion, endorsed by the Sub County Director of Education (SCDE).
  • These are required for KJSEA registration.

Supervision and Compliance

  • Sub-county officers will oversee full adherence to rules.
  • Discipline will be strictly enforced to uphold the integrity of the process.
  • Any breach of conduct will lead to severe consequences.

This qualifying test is a crucial academic milestone, intended to uphold high standards and ensure that students are well-prepared for the national KJSEA exam.
